Purchased by Jack and Maxine Zarrow from the artist through correspondence, July 30, 1981. Ralph Wall produced reproductions of his paintings and gave the Zarrows a copy of the reproduction, A/P3. On the back of painting, in the artist's handwriting: "'When Meat Was Scarce'; 1980, Ralph Wall."
