Title:
Zia eagle dancers
Description:
A painting of two dancers wearing eagle headdresses and eagle feather capes across their backs and arms. They are wearing handwoven embroidered kilts and handwoven sashes. The dancer on the right is facing left, and he is dancing with his left foot on the ground and his right foot raised, arms outstretched. The dancer on the left is facing the viewer with his head turned to the right and is crouched down with his arms extended. There is a ceramic effigy bowl on the ground between the dancers, and spirit images of the dancers changing into eagles appear to come out of the bowl and rise into the sky. Two ceramic pots are on the ground on either side of the dancers.
