Description:
A stylized design that includes a row of three female figures from the waist up whose arms are connected. All three are wearing three red chokers, a shell pendant necklace and the traditional one-shoulder Pueblo dress. Their hairstyles are similar and consist of long hair on their left side and hair cut short on their right with bangs. The figure in the center has a basket balanced on her head and a rain belt at her waist. Below these figures, there is a water serpent design.

Provenance:
Purchased by Jack and Maxine Zarrow at the Oke Oweenge Crafts Cooperative, San Juan Pueblo, NM, March 27, 1992. This painting is one of three of Ms. Montoya's paintings purchased at the time. The other paintings were "Deer in the Fall" (jmz.499) and "Long Hair Dancer" (jmz.500). The painting was framed when purchased, but the painting was removed from the frame to protect it from acidic mats and backing. The frame was a heavy wooden frame typical of the period when the painting was done.
