A painting of a Native American man dancing a fancy war dance. He is facing the viewer with his head turned slightly to the right. He is wearing a roach headdress, feathered arm rosettes, a tail bustle, a blue breechclout with a beaded belt, a vest-like garment with beaded medallions, bands of bells around his calves, goat-hair ankle bands and beaded moccasins. His left leg is raised behind him and bent at the knee and his arms swing as he dances.

This painting was purchased by Dr. and Mrs. Killus Reese between 1931 through 1937, thus dating this painting at this time." Taped to the dust cover: "'War Dancer' by Stephen Mopope, Anadarko, Okla."
