A painting of a gray-haired man sitting on a log stool as he dreams of a stickball game. The man is facing right and sitting on the left side of the painting while his dream is in the upper right side of the painting. He is wearing a wide-brimmed hat, a white shirt and black pants. The man is resting his right hand on his right thigh and holding the handle of a stickball stick. He is resting his left hand on his left knee and holding a string that is attached to a stickball stick. Several more sticks are in a pile at his feet and it appears he has been making them.

On the exhibition label, glued to the dust cover: "'Living Memories of a Distant Past' by Cathy Rutledge (Choctaw); oil; ... Honorable Mention." Stapled to the back of the frame: Yellow Honorable Mention ribbon.
