Provenance:
Purchased by Jack and Maxine Zarrow from D. F. Henry Company, Tulsa, OK, December 12-15, 1980. This painting was exhibited at the Gilcrease Museum in the Fred Beaver/Solomon McCombs Memorial Exhibition held March 7-April 19, 1981. The Zarrows were one of the sponsors of this exhibition. On a sticker at the top of the dust cover: "Solomon McCombs (1913-1980) 'Forest Fire'; casein, 1976; collection: Maxine and Jack Zarrow." Glued to the dust cover is a newspaper article: "Creek Tribal Leader Dies," November 18, 1980.
