'Waters of Minnetonka') met Woody and brought him to Wichita University for schooling and to illustrate a book of Indian melodies. Thurlow was head of the music dept. at the university. After Thurlow's death, his wife (Edna) had all the pictures that were left. (Thurlow had destroyed many of them while he was ill). Woody had given Edna several paintings (including this one). When she had to give up and go to a one-room apt., she got rid of everything - rugs, jewelry, pots etc. We (my sister and I - friends of hers) were given 3 paintings. One of them was done on a deer hide (we gave it back after we moved into a smaller place). Betty Crawford..."
