- An etching of a figure upside down in a black hole. The only parts of him that extend above the hole are his tied hands, his feet and the hem of his multicolored garment. Below this figure, along the bottom edge of the etching, there are nine men standing on both sides of the bottom of the hole, two to the left and seven to the right. At the top of the etching, above the hole, there are four men dressed in black who seem to be observing what is going on below. One of the men holds a torah.

- Provenance:
- Purchased by Jack and Maxine Zarrow at the Philbrook Museum's Collectors Choice 14 art show and sale, Tulsa, OK, 1974. These shows were held for several years by the museum. The director, Donald G. Humphrey, would go to New York City and visit various galleries, seeking artworks they were willing to loan on commission for the show. He would then bring back a selection of artworks to be sold at the Collectors Choice show. On a sticker on the back of the frame: "Associated American Artists.... An original work of art, Artist Leiber, Title 'Joseph and His Brethren,' medium etching...."
