The carcass of a dead coyote is hanging by its rear legs from the nearest fence post on the right. A rabbit is sitting up on its hind legs to the left of the coyote. Storm clouds are billowing in the distance on the left.

Purchased by Jack and Maxine Zarrow from Brummett Echohawk, Tulsa, OK, July 8, 1980. This painting was one of twenty purchased from Brummett at the time. On the receipt: "'Prairie Bandit,' tempera, Art size 6" X 10", Date painted: 1978, 'This coyote was seen hanging from a fence post on a bald prairie east of Red Rock, Oklahoma.'" On the backing: "'Prairie Bandit,' Echohawk, artist...."
