Description:
A three-quarter-length portrait of a young Native American girl who is facing left with her head turned toward the viewer. She has long black braids that are wrapped in fur. In her hair, she is wearing a shell disk with two green feathers attached. She is also wearing a yellow cloth dress with red stripes on the bell-shaped sleeves. In addition, she has a red scarf tied around her neck and is holding a feather fan in her hands.

Provenance:
Purchased by Jack and Maxine Zarrow at the Gilcrease Museum's annual American Art in Miniature exhibition, Tulsa, OK, December 15, 1999. This is one of three works purchased by the Zarrows at this exhibition. The other two were: a painting, "Up," by Otto Duecker (jmz.398), and a sculpture, "Feeding Frenzy," by Daniel Kronberg (jmz.S27). On the back of the painting: "9 X 12, oil panel, Oct 27, 1999, 'The Yellow Dress,' Crow Indian girl 5 years old at Cody Pow Wow, 1999" and the artist's signature.
