The lead rope of a loaded pack mule is attached to the travois. Behind the travois, there is another man as well as two more pack mules.

The original drawing is in the Gilcrease Museum collection. On a brass plaque: "'The Land Mark Tree'; Paul Calle." On a card glued to the dust cover: "Gilcrease Museum Association...; Purchased at the Reading and Bates Art Sale to benefit the Gilcrease Museum Association; May 14, 1989."
