Tail dancer
Description:
A print of a war dancer performing a portion of a dance called The Tail Dance. His feet and knees are pointing toward the left, while his upper torso is facing the viewer and his head is turned to the right. Both of his knees are bent. His left knee is raised at waist height and his right foot is on the ground. Most of his body, excluding his face and hands, is painted black with red, yellow and gray designs. His face is painted red and white. He is wearing a roach headdress, feathered rosettes on his upper arms, a lower-back feather bustle, a red breechclout, ankle bells and beaded moccasins. A scalp is hanging from his belt. In his right hand, he is holding a feather and in his left hand, he is holding a feather fan.
