- Purchased by Jack and Maxine Zarrow from Brummett Echohawk, Tulsa, OK, July 8, 1980. On a card glued to the dust cover: "'Leaving for the Spring Buffalo Hunt' 1976." Data from the artist: "'Morning Hunt or River Crossing (Leaving for the Spring Buffalo Hunt)'; Tempera; Art size: 8" x 14"; date painted: 1976; This depicts the spirit of an early spring hunt. Both men and horses are glad to get out of camp. Anticipating a good hunt, the men laugh and talk. Children follow the hunters out of the village. Fed by melting snow, the stream ripples with new life. A Killdeer in the foreground is looking for a nesting spot as daylight breaks in the east."
