- Purchased by Jack and Maxine Zarrow via absentee bid from an R. G. Munn auction in Albuquerque, NM, February 6, 1999. Taped to the top of the dust cover: "NAME Fred Beaver TRIBE Creek/Seminole, ... TITLE: Plains Indian Warrior, MEDIUM Gouache, ... NO. 803 EXHIBITOR NO. 124." Glued to the dust cover: "Saturday, 11/8/75, 'The Medicine Man' Speak thus of him who was truly the director of all matters; when illness came he was called, when war lingered in air and the chief's gathered he sat among them. All matters concerned was his also...in actuality his decision was final...thus, with his blessings his spirit would also, be a part of his blessings. Burgess Roye 11-7-75. Picture here, the medicine man blessing the coming in life and the part of life the peyote played among the Indian...again Burgess Roye."
